ASCE 40 Rail
Product Overview
Manufactured by precision hot-rolling, ASCE 40 rails conform to ASCE and AREMA specifications. The section is optimized for wheel-rail contact, structural stability and economical handling. Available surface options include hot-dip galvanizing and shot-peening; heat treatment (rail head quenching) and special coatings are available on request.
Material & Mechanical Performance
Standard material: Specialty rail steels (55Q equivalents).
Mechanical targets: Track head hardness ≥ HB201 for standard rails; optional quenched heads ≥ HB300 for improved wear resistance.
Tensile strength: Typical ≥ 685 MPa for 55Q (subject to MTC).
Chemical control: Low S & P content to minimize internal defects and improve fatigue life.
Manufacturing & Quality Control
Process: High-precision hot rolling with dimensional tolerance ≤ ±0.5 mm.
Cooling: Segmented cooling to reduce residual stress and improve dimensional stability.
Inspection: Full-length ultrasonic testing, multi-point hardness testing, laser dimensional inspection and spectrographic chemical analysis.
Certifications: Mill Test Certificate (MTC), ISO 9001; compliant with ASTM A1 and AREMA; CE certification available for EU shipments.
Core Advantages
Optimized cross-section — head, web and base geometry minimize wheel wear and running noise while ensuring even load distribution.
High durability — high-grade steels and optional rail-head quenching significantly improve wear life and fatigue resistance.
Economic lifecycle — lighter section reduces procurement and handling costs while maintaining required structural performance.
Customizable — lengths, bolt patterns, heat treatment and corrosion protection tailored to project needs.
Installation Guidance
Compact and level subgrade; minimum bearing capacity ≥ 150 kPa.
Leave 2–3 mm expansion gap at joints for temperature movement (adjust per local climate).
Fastener torque recommendation: 80–100 N·m.
Standard gauge check: 1435 mm; maintain lateral deviation ≤ ±2 mm.
Regular inspection schedule for joint tightness, gauge, and rail head wear.
